General Description

IGF-1 is a growth factor associated with proliferation, cell survival, and anabolic metabolism. In cell culture, it is used to support expansion, viability, and functional maintenance of different cellular models, especially under conditions that require greater medium control and defined growth support.

Biological Action

IGF-1 acts mainly through the IGF1R receptor, activating pathways associated with survival, proliferation, and cell growth. Its signaling can promote cell cycle entry, reduce apoptosis, and support differentiation processes when combined with other factors in the medium.

Usage Considerations

The use of IGF-1 requires careful definition of the cell type, culture status, concentration, exposure time, and presence of other factors. Due to its context-dependent effect, dose-response curves and markers of proliferation, viability, apoptosis, or differentiation should be evaluated according to the study objective.

WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

IGF-1 recombinant human can be evaluated in studies aimed at cell survival, growth, and functional response in culture. Its use will depend on the cell model, experimental conditions, and the objectives of each investigation.

Cell Survival

Support in models where the goal is to reduce apoptosis and maintain viability during critical culture stages.

Cell Proliferation

Stimulation of cell growth and expansion in primary cultures, established cell lines, and specialized models.

Assisted Differentiation

Use as a cofactor in protocols where other stimuli drive cell differentiation programs.

Regenerative Models

Application in systems focused on specialized matrix, tissue repair, and cellular response studies.
